ABOUT MY CLIENTS

Are you looking for self-improvement?  Having a hard time with life-transitions that you feel stuck with?  Struggling with grief and loss that overwhelms you?  Having relationship issues that are causing anxiety?  I'm sure this can cause a great deal of uncertainty regarding where to begin.  I get it.  At some point everyone struggles.  Therapy can provide you insight to help you with a start.  Where to begin.  I look forward to working together and helping you work on your wellness.

MY BACKGROUND AND APPROACH

I am a Licensed Master Clinical Social Worker (LMSW).  I received my Master's degree from Wayne State University with a concentration in family/marriage in Social Work.  My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor's of Science degree from Michigan State University.  I have experience working with children, adolescents and adults. My training began with working with families who needed assistance within the community.  I then transitioned to working with a population that was severely mentally ill.  I have additional experience working with children, those battling substance abuse in a clinical therapy environment and facilitating group therapy.  For the last few years I have been at Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital.

Many clients believe it is up to the therapist to make the client feel better.  Although feeling better may be the outcome of therapy, that is not always the case in every situation.  My main responsibility is to help to provide insight to assist you in seeing/understanding the issue and where there is potential for growth.

I think a compassionate, strength-based approach will assist us in creating a relationship in working together.  You and I will work collaboratively to assist you in reaching your goals.  I love seeing my clients happier and healthier working toward their wellness.  Contact me today to begin working on YOU.

Welcome!

-Kate, LMSW, Owner/Therapist

MY PERSONAL BELIEFS AND INTERESTS

I support organizations that help fight against mental health/therapy stigma.  I welcome all races, genders, ethnicities and religious backgrounds.  I do challenge myself at looking outside of old belief systems.  I regularly attend trainings to keep current on issues and believe that it is important to continue to learn/educate oneself.  I am a dog lover and have two dogs.  I am a Spartan and big fan however if you support opposing teams I won't judge.  Promise.  :)
